The robust energy of many of Handel’s tunes ensures their enduring appeal to music lovers. In Maccabeus I have taken a lateral look at Handel’s famous melody ‘See the Conquering Hero Comes’ from his opera Judas Maccabeus. This is not my first arrangement of a Handel tune, in fact, looking back, this is my fourth so maybe I should put them together in a suite entitled Four Handels (with apologies to The Two Ronnies).
